Finite-Alphabet based Channel Estimation for OFDM and related Multi-Carrier Systems Shengli Zhou and Georgios B. The resulting algorithms are applicable not only to standard OFDM transmitters with cyclic pre x, but also to the recently proposed zero padded OFDM transmissions. Based on FFT-processed received data, channel identi ability is guaranteed regardless of channel zero locations and various channel estimation algorithms become available by trading o complexity with performance. Unlike existing blind channel estimators, the inherent scalar ambiguity is reduced to nite phase values and is thus easily resolved. With PSK transmissions, channel estimation becomes possible even from a single OFDM symbol at high SNR. The algorithms are tested with simulations and also compared with existing alternatives in a realistic HIPERLAN/2 setting.

Frequency-domain Equalization of Single Carrier Transmissions over Doubly Selective Channels
Wireless communication systems targeting at broadband and mobile transmissions commonly face the challenge of fading channels that are both time and frequency selective. Therefore, design of effective equalization and estimation algorithms for such channels becomes a fundamental problem. Although multi-carrier transmissions demonstrate prominent potential to combat doubly selective fading, seve...

This paper presents an empirical mode decomposition (EMD) based adaptive filter (AF) for channel estimation in OFDM system. In this method, length of channel impulse response (CIR) is first approximated using Akaike information criterion (AIC). Then, CIR is estimated using adaptive filter with EMD decomposed IMF of the received OFDM symbol. The correlation and kurtosis measures are used to sel...

Abstract—In this paper, we present a Maximum Likelihood (ML) symbol detector for single-carrier block transmissions in the context of SISO channels with multipath. This ML detector is based on an Iterative Least Squares with Projection (ILSP) algorithm exploiting both finite alphabet properties of the transmitted signal and its cyclic prefixed structure in order to approach ML detection in a ch...

Channel estimation is an essential task to fully exploit the advantages of the massive MIMO systems. In this paper, we propose a semi-blind downlink channel estimation method for massive MIMO system. We suggest a new modeling for the channel matrix subspace. Based on the low-rankness property, we have prposed an algorithm to estimate the channel matrix subspace. In the next step, using o...
متن کاملBlind Channel Estimation and Multiuser Detection for Multi-rate Cdma Communications
The future wireless communications systems should be able to offer wide variety of applications, which have vastly different quality of service (QoS) requirements. The time-variable QoS may require the support of variable bit rates on the wireless links to the individual users. Multi-rate DS/CDMA is a promising basis on which to support the variable bit rates on the individual wireless links. C...
